Victrex Technical Centre, Thornton Cleveleys

Project Summary: The project comprised the design and construction of a three-storey production building together with associated plant rooms, transformer/switch rooms, reception annexe, offices and amenities area for Victrex Manufacturing. Victrex are a world leading manufacturer of high performance polymers, including the highly versatile VICTREX® PEEK polymer. The adjacent Victrex production building remained fully operational for the duration of the project. Procedures were implemented by the Main Contractor to ensure limited disruption was experienced. This included segregation of construction activities in the form of hoardings and netting, manned site entrance/exit points, scheduling of material deliveries to avoid peak times for the Client, programming of site works along with an element of pre-fabrication / off site construction.

Services Provided: The DLP team were appointed by the Client to carry out the role of Employers Agent and to undertake Quantity Surveying services on the Project. At the Pre-Contract stage DLP prepared tender documentation and liaised with the Project team on specification and value engineering. Post Contract as the Employers Agent DLP organised site meetings and carried out contract administrator duties, then as Quantity Surveyor we carried out interim valuations, reviewed contract variations and agreed the final account.
