




The Project
Redevelopment of The Whitaker Barn & Stables Building, Rawtenstall
Project Summary: Works on the Lottery-funded transformation project at The Whitaker in Rawtenstall, included the construction of a link extension between the existing the museum building and the former barn & stables building together with the careful conservation and conversion of the later.
The conversion of the former stables and barn, which had previously been used by the Council’s Parks and Open Spaces department, comprised the formation of new exhibition space, storage facilities and staff welfare facilities together with the creation of a cafe and bar served by a full commercial kitchen.
The renovation of The Whitaker was procured by Rossendale Borough Council in conjunction with the Whitaker CIC and was supported by monies from the National Heritage Fund together with other grants.
Services Provided: The DLP team were appointed to provide both pre and post contract Quantity Surveying Services on this project. The services included, but were not limited to, the preparation of budget cost estimates, tender documentation & pre-tender estimate, tender return review and value engineering options, completion of monthly valuations once works commenced, provision of post contract financial reports for the Client and agreement of the final account with the Main Contractor.
